Cincinnati pioneers the art of placemaking

As more cities set out to rebrand, they look to us for ideas on creating inclusive, diverse communities.

In a recent Forbes article, Cincinnati was recognized for its placemaking and rebranding efforts surrounding urban studies and urban development. Placemaking — a manner of planning and designing public spaces to contribute to a community’s happiness and well-being — looks unique in each area, and is a way for places to differentiate themselves from comparable locations.

Brandemonium, which was held in Cincinnati last month, was credited for spotlighting the city’s marketing and rebranding efforts as well as our three institutions designed for minority startup and business ownership: Mortar (for those in the idea stage), Hillman (a business accelerator), and the Cincinnati Chamber Minority Business Accelerator (for businesses ready to scale). The 1819 Innovation Hub was credited as well.
