Smale Riverfront Park is getting ready to introduce Carol Ann’s Carousel to the public, with an expected opening in Spring 2015. Named for Carol Ann Haile, who along with her husband Ralph established the Haile Foundation at US Bank, the new downtown entertainment attraction is being built inside a glass pavilion at the foot of Vine Street between the Ohio River and the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center. The carousel will operate year-round and feature 44 riding animals and characters in three rows.

Cincinnati Parks and the Haile Foundation have released a video (produced by Over-the-Rhine-based Agar) showing the animal/character design and construction work currently underway. The figures represent Greater Cincinnati life, history and culture, including aspects of river life, sports, Cincinnati cuisine, iconic places, transportation, history, business, the arts, the seasons and folklore.
