Streetcar professionals and supporters from around the country will meet June 10 for Cincinnati Streetcar Forum: Promoting Growth and Mobility, hosted by the University of Cincinnati.

Representatives from Charlotte, Little Rock, Portland and Seattle will share the benefits and the obstacles of creating a streetcar system in their cities and will provide Cincinnati with strategies that can be employed to promote economic development and improved quality of life.

The day’s three sessions will include:

  • Streetcars 101
  • Impact of Streetcars on Economic Development
  • Implementing a Streetcar System

Forum attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions, to speak with the presenters one-on-one, and to learn more about Cincinnati’s streetcar plans.

“This is an opportunity to learn more about why these cities invested in streetcars as well as the challenges and opportunities they’ve experienced in the process of building fare systems.” says Cincinnati city manager Milton Dohoney Jr.

The event is being organized by representatives from the City of Cincinnati, Agenda 360, the mayor’s Young Professional Kitchen Cabinet, the Over-the-Rhine Chamber of Commerce, University of Cincinnati, and the Urban League’s African American Leadership Development Program.

The event takes place from 8 AM to 1:30 PM on the fourth floor of the Tangeman University Center.

Registration is $35 and includes parking, continental breakfast, box lunch and forum materials.
