“New Urbanism” in Warren County aims to create close-knit, healthy, sustainable communities
Both Aberlin Springs and Union Village are developing areas that will bring generations of families together and foster connectivity.
Leslie Aberlin first got the idea for Aberlin Springs because of an autoimmune disease that was making it difficult for her to function. In an attempt to feel better, she got off her medicine and started eating organic food, which helped so much that she got the idea to use her Warren County farm to create Ohio’s first “agri-community.”
The idea has caught on, and nearby Union Village is also under construction. Both places hope to reconnect people through carefully designed neighborhoods that encourage walking and connecting with family, friends, and neighbors, along with other ways to live healthier lifestyles.
“It’s really a simple way for me to live the healthy kind of lifestyle that I want for the both of us,” says Q102’s Jenn Jordan, who will move to Aberlin Springs with her autistic son.
