It may take its name from a small, aquatic species found in the waters around New Zealand, but Triplefin is swimming with the big fish and starting to prey on its competition. Triplefin, which fulfills and ships orders from clients, is one of three Cincinnati-area companies that made the latest Inc. 500 list of the fastest-growing companies in the nation. Triplefin ranked as the fastest-growing in Ohio and No. 93 overall, with growth of more than 2,000 percent since 2004. Its revenue grew from $4 million in '04 to $84 million in 2007. That's not exactly swimming upstream.
Logistics firm E.A. Hunter Transportation ranked 195, with growth of nearly 1,245 percent, as revenues increased from $212,000 in 2004 to $2.9 million in '07. EA Hunter is one of only a few companies laying the foundation to bring together and centrally manage the complete supply chain for a company or a specific industry.
Communication software provider OneCommand ranked 263 with growth of 1,007 percent, as it saw revenue grow from $2.5 million in 2004 to $27.5 million in 2007. It has increased its primary base of customers, auto dealerships, to 2,800 across the country, and has branched out to begin working with public schools and universities.
The Inc. 500 list is considered a comprehensive look at up-and-coming entrepreneurial companies. Companies such as Zappos, Intuit, GoDaddy, Under Armour, Jamba Juice, American Apparel, Oracle and hundreds of others gained early exposure as members of the Inc. 500.
