The Blue Manatee Literacy Project and Bookstore in Oakley was recognized by the Book Industry Charitable Foundation (Binc) and Penguin Random House for its Near-Peer Mentoring Program.

Blue Manatee and Cincinnati Public Schools created the program, which has middle school students provide basic reading instruction and skills to younger readers, along with book access to underserved students.

The local bookstore, which was selected out of multiple applicants across the country, will now benefit from additional funds to help build and grow the project throughout Cincinnati Public Schools.
