Big plans mark State of City

In front of an audience of around 600, Cincinnati Mayor Mark Mallory delivered his annual State of the City address in which he addressed the issues of public safety, jobs and economic development, neighborhood revitalization and public transportation.

Ohio bioscience attracted $1.3 billion in investment in 2006

The State of Ohio welcomed 47 new bioscience companies in 2006, resulting in $1.3 billion in investment.  This is an 8 percent increase over 2005, according to BioOhio's 2007 Ohio Bioscience Growth Report.

An investment of $4 million in green energy could bring 29,000 new jobs to Ohio, according to a report by the Blue Green Action Alliance.  The manufacturing sector would benefit by producing wind turbines, solar panels, and other renewable energy equipment.

Mallory releases GO Cincinnati economic development plan

Cincinnati Mayor Mark Mallory has released his GO Cincinnati report, which highlights specific strategies for  investment to spur city growth and increase the city's tax base.  By following the report's recommendations, the city could create nearly 5,000 new jobs and increase its revenues by more than $146 million.

UC study shows promise in treating brain tumors

Radioactive seeds and chemotherapy wafers have shown promise in treating cancerous brain tumors in a study conducted by the Neuroscience Institute at the University of Cincinnati and University Hospital.  The study showed that treatment using both increased the survival rate compared to patients who had either the seeds or wafers alone.

DAAP students help design Super Bowl graphics
