Soapbox Speaker Series: Patrons of Urbanism – New Ambitions for Public-Private Partnerships.
Cincinnati has long enjoyed a strong tradition of philanthropy that has benefitted and provided support for our social, civic, economic, and physical infrastructure. Private and corporate philanthropists have been central to maintaining and advancing investments into key aspects of desirable urban living and urbanism. Now, alongside these stalwart philanthropists, new models of support are emerging from unexpected places and in innovative forms. Taken together, these efforts constitute an impressive array of support that deserves to be recognized and reflected upon.
Join us for our first Soapbox Speaker Series of the new year, sponsored by the UC Niehoff Urban Studio, as we celebrate Cincinnati’s Patrons of Urbanism on Wednesday, January 5, 2011. Our guests will include:
Sean Parker, Manager, Ohio Government & Community Relations at P&G
Beth Gottfried, Co-Founder, Fuel Cincinnati
Buck Niehoff, Downey Fund
Dave Abbott, The Gund Foundation
Moderator: Eric Avner, The Haile Foundation
And speaking of philanthropy – do you have a great idea for the city? We want to hear about it and possibly fund it.
Attendees of this Soapbox Speaker Series event will have the unique opportunity to submit their ideas for a grant (up to $2500) from Fuel Cincinnati. Fuel is an initiative of Give Back Cincinnati that exists to provide grants and resources to projects that are new, creative and developed by and for the region’s future leaders.
To be eligible, please submit your idea when you register to attend the Speaker Series <link> in 140 characters or less by Wednesday, December 29 at 5:00pm. If your idea is chosen as a finalist, a Fuel member will contact you for additional information. A winner will be chosen by our distinguished panelists and announced at the January 5th event!
