The house was part of the 2007’s Solar Decathlon, an event in which 20 national and international teams competed to assemble houses that combined strong elements of design with functional elements of sustainability.

The houses were on display on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. and were open to judges and to the general public.

According to UC News, the UC’s solar house team has partnered with Procter & Gamble Co.; General Electric; Aluminum Extruded Shapes Inc. and other firms, while also garnering coverage in national and local news media like National Public Radio, USA Today, BusinessWeek magazine, Ohio Magazine, The Columbus Dispatch, The Cincinnati Enquirer and The Cincinnati Business Courier.
