Northern Kentucky ezone generates over $54 million in funding

Since its inception in 2001, the Northern Kentucky ezone has helped to generate over $54 million in grants, investments, and other public and private funding to more than 134 young companies. Among the beneficiaries in 2008 were dbaDirect, a Florence, Ky.-based firm that manages more than 3,000 corporate databases as well as Tier 1 Performance Solutions an innovative learning and knowledge management consulting firm.

Once an incubator for local tech companies, the organization merged last year with Northern Kentucky Tri-County Economic Development Corp. In that time the ezone has recruited an entrepreneurship committee, proposed state legislation and created an angel investment group.

The next deadline for applications for Kentucky Enterprise Fund grants is February 12, 2009. The grants were created to stimulate private investment in Kentucky-based technology companies. For more information contact Keith Schneider at 859.292.7785.
