Wyoming

The city of Wyoming was named for the county in Pennsylvania from which some of its settlers originated. Founded by Robert Reily, a civil war colonel who died in the Battle of Chancelorsville and is buried at Spring Grove Cemetery, the picturesque city boasts many mature trees and beautiful historic homes.

Wyoming is renowned for its schools. Wyoming City School District was ranked first in the state for the 2004-2005 school year on Ohio’s State Report Card.

Other notable figures that have been raised in this area include several Olympic athletes, including silver medalist hurdler David Thorn Payne and gymnast Alyssa Beckerman.
