Stimulus could bring business boom our way

Local companies and institutions have submitted $2.25 billion in local projects to legislators, hoping for a piece of the economic stimulus package.

In Ohio, applications are already being submitted to the state through 2008 Ohio Bipartisan Job Stimulus Plan programs for projects involving advanced energy, infrastructure, biotechnology and economic development spending.

The systems created by this plan would allow stimulus funds to move into the hands of those who can create jobs quickly, according to Ohio Department of Development strategic business investment division director Steve Schoeny.

Northern Kentucky could also benefit from high-tech stimulus investment, as well as funding for water and wastewater systems for its established communities and a power plant to serve its fast-growing suburbs.
