Ethicon produces one of top 100 most significant innovations of 2008

Ethicon Endo-Surgery's new ultrasonic scalpel has been named on of this year's top 100 most significant innovations in the September issue of R&D Magazine.

The Harmonic Focus Curved Shear is the result of Ethicon's direct observation of 21 different surgical procedures from around the world and the ethnographic and cultural differences among operating rooms.

Through this research, they were able to create a tool that could help solve neck and facial surgery difficulties anywhere.

Other Ohio firms on the list include Battelle in Columbus, NASA Glenn Research Center in Cleveland, and Keithley Instruments, Inc. and Swagelok Co. of Solon.
