Cincinnati is one of 16 regional host sites for the second annual
Construction Challenge, an event that is expected to include a total of more than 5,000 middle and high school students from the United States and Canada.
Sponsored by the
Association of Equipment Manufacturers and
Destination ImagiNation, the competition allows teams of five to seven youths to collaborate and solve challenges based in manufacturing design, service tech, and critical infrastructure issues.
Winners of the February 7 regionals will advance to the championships in Knoxville, May 19-23.
During the competition, participants will also learn about career opportunities in the construction trades, a sector in which more than 1 million new jobs are expected to be created by 2012.
