Designers create symbols to show way in hospitals

Design students from the University of Cincinnati, Kent State University, California Polytechnic State University and Iowa State University have designed a series of navigation symbols to help guide immigrants through hospitals. The symbols resemble the geometric designs representing a person in a wheelchair for handicapped services and the figures of a man and a woman for male and female restrooms.  The intent is to create a standardized signage system for all health care systems throughout the world.
