Thomas More College's plan to create a center for health care education got a boost with a $250,000 federal grant. The Thomas More College Regional Center for Health Sciences and Health Care Management will train the next generation of health care professionals and managers. Plans call for an MBA program for health care professionals, new programs in nursing, expanding gerontology training and new opportunities for career planning and lifelong learning.
The funding will support efforts to develop a highly skilled health care workforce, including substantial efforts to train more nurses. "Thomas More College has a history of producing exceptional employees, particularly in this discipline," said U.S. Rep. Geoff Davis, who presented the award.
