Getting talented students together with innovative companies is what Ohio's Third Frontier internship program tries to do, at the same time, help position the state for long-term growth in the knowledge-based economy. The program links Ohio students with internship opportunities that provide hands-on experience at private-sector companies. The program will reimburse up to 50 percent of the intern’s pay, or no more than $3,000 for a 12-month period. Following an intern’s graduation, the firm then has the opportunity to offer full-time employment to someone who's well-prepared. The program is looking for businesses that can offer internship opportunities in advanced manufacturing, advanced materials, biosciences, information technology, instruments controls and technology, and power and propulsion.
