The Hamilton County Development Co. joined forces with software giant Intuit and a computer industry trade group to provide free business software and training to Cincinnati-area small businesses. At an Aug. 21 event at HCDC, Cincinnati small-business owners received free financial management software created specifically for small firms, training in financial management and how to use the software, and training on building a presence on the Web.
Intuit’s Financial Freedom Foundation and the Computer and Communications Industry Association provided the expertise and software and U.S. Rep. Steve Chabot (R-Cincinnati), ranking minority member of the House Small Business Committee, spoke about the importance of small businesses, calling them "the backbone of our economy, creating new jobs while developing innovative products and services." HCDC President David Main says the software and training can be valuable to entrepreneurs. "Starting a small business is the American dream, but keeping your books in order can be a nightmare," he says.
Small business owners can access Intuit’s free financial management software by contacting the network of Small Business Development Centers serving Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky or by downloading it from a Web site the Intuit Financial Freedom Foundation created for the Cincinnati small business community - www.INTUITeducation.com/Cincinnati. The site also provides contact information for small business support organizations such as HCDC and others.
