Getting those great snapshots out of your phone and into your PC or image-sharing service can be done quickly and wirelessly with a new service offered up by Cincinnati Bell Wireless. It's called pix2pc, and it automatically saves every picture that cell phone shutterbugs take to their favorite destinations with no wires or connections.
Cincinnati Bell is the first GSM wireless carrier to offer pix2pc, which is powered by technology from Seattle-based Ontela. Tim Bracken of Cincinnati Bell explains how it works: "When someone takes a picture with their camera phone, it is sent directly to their personal computer and e-mail address. As a result, the images can be safely stored and used just like images taken with a digital camera."
Cincinnati Bell also hopes to drive demand for its wireless service, citing a recent national study that found 41 percent of cell-phone photogs would actually consider changing wireless carriers to get an automatic image-saving service on their phones.
