Northern Kentucky created 1,355 new jobs in 2007

High-tech manufacturing that serves the mining, chemical, pharmaceutical and food industries is what Flottweg Separation Technology does. The company, a unit of Germany's Flottweg AG, was one of the new firms that set up shop in Northern Kentucky in 2007.

Expansions and new business relocations in 2007 in Northern Kentucky are expected to create 1,355 primary jobs and 1,624 indirect jobs, resulting in a total impact of more than $694 million in business sales, finds  an annual economic impact study by the University of Cincinnati. The ripple effect of those new jobs adds up to some real big numbers: 5,432 total jobs will be created within the Greater Cincinnati metro region, the study says. That should generate more than $888 million in sales.

"The impact of new jobs created just in the Northern Kentucky region will add $124 million in household earnings and more than $42 million in retail businesses in the region,” says Steve Pendery, chairman of Northern Kentucky Tri-County Economic Development Corp.
