Health Alliance awards Center for Closing the Health Gap $575,000

The Center for Closing the Health Gap in Greater Cincinnati works to improve the health status of the African American, Latino and Appalachian populations through education, training, advocacy and outreach. Its work recently got a vote of confidence from the Health Alliance of Greater Cincinnati, which awarded the group $475,000. The Health Alliance's annual gift to the center is a sign of support of its mission to eliminate racial and ethnic health disparities, says Lee Ann Liska, executive eirector University Hospital, an Alliance member. The Alliance's support also includes a $100,000 in-kind donation for the Center’s rent and IT services.

The Health Alliance will help fund the Center’s training and education, outreach programs and the Do Right! campaign, which empowers local communities to improve nutrition and increase physical activity. "Their commitment enables us to further our research and give families the tools they need to learn how to eat, live and move right," says Dwight Tillery, the Center's CEO.
