Need a taxi? Young leaders develop Fetch one-number service

A group of young professionals has put together a new free service to make it easier to find a cab.  The service is called Fetch and it uses a single phone number – 513-35-FETCH – that can provide access to every major cab company in Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky.

Fetch is a project of C-Change, a young professional leadership development program of the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber.   Its 11-member transportation group wanted to find a way to reduce impaired driving and improve the quality and convenience of taxis in the area. Using the Fetch number, callers are routed to the first available cab, making it easier to get a cab quickly without having to remember several phone numbers.

Another key to the service is a user feedback Web site – www.fetchtaxi.com – allowing cab riders to grade the quality of their ride, rewarding high-quality cab drivers, and making it more likely that they will be called in the future.

"We hope that this service gets people to use cabs more often and really promotes the best cab drivers in town," Elizabeth Edwards, project co-chair. Corporate sponsors include Landor, Cincinnati Bell and Michelman Inc.
