The Northside Farmers' Market will offer more than locally-grown produce and arts and crafts this year -- it also plans to be a marketplace of ideas. The market is offering free booth space for any nonprofit, community organization or environmental group to communicate their message. "We'd like to provide everyone from skate parks to the opera to builders of green roofs the opportunity to let people know about their organization," says Peggy Shannon, market committee member. "We'd like to be a resource for people to find useful information that can make a difference in their life." The Northside Farmers' Market opens June 4 and is held every Wednesday through the end of October from 4:30 to 7 PM at the corner of Hamilton Avenue and Lingo. Groups interested in sharing their message may participate one time or come every week without a fee. The market is also seeking local artisans to display their work.
