Entry-level hiring appears robust

Several big Cincinnati employers are among the top 500 entry-level employers for 2008, as determined by CollegeGrad.com. They include Fidelity Investments, which projects a need for 2,200 entry-level workers in 2008; General Electric (1,500); Johnson & Johnson (1,100); Procter & Gamble (750); Macy's (670); International Paper (250); FedEx (200) and Convergys (140). The top

entry level employers list was generated by a survey in which respondents provided entry level, master's, and intern hiring projections for 2008. Overall, entry level employers are increasing their hiring by 12.9 percent in 2008, the site says. The main challenge college grads face in the job search is the ability to perform in a global economy, the site suggests. "Globalization continues to transform the business landscape," says Blane Ruschak, national director of campus recruiting for KPMG. "This has led to an increased hiring emphasis on college graduates that possess or have the ability to acquire global skills and competencies."
