The state of Ohio is rolling out new grant and incentive programs to help existing Ohio companies retool manufacturing capacities and retrain work forces to produce components for alternative energy sources including wind turbines, geothermal systems, photovoltaic systems, biomass and clean coal. With 26 states having adopted renewable energy standards, it is anticipated that by the year 2020 approximately 5,800 megawatts of advanced/renewable energy will be used in Ohio alone.
The Clermont County economic development office is co-sponsoring a half-day program to help manufacturers and others learn how they can access grants and incentives from the state to get into this growing market. The Nov. 6 program will feature experts from the Ohio Department of Development in solar, wind, biomass, advanced building technologies and fuel cells.
The program is free, but you need to register. You can do that at Clermont County's Web site.
