Cincinnati will host its first "Digital Non-Conference," a creative forum for those working in digital media and technology in the advertising, branding and marketing communications fields, November 14 and 15 downtown.
What's a "non-conference"? Well, most conferences are held in giant hotel ballrooms with bright lights and lots of PowerPoint. While this one's locus will be the Hyatt Regency downtown, several pubs will also serve as hosts, and much of the interaction and idea-exchanging will happen in those decidedly "non-conference" settings. Organizers say the atmosphere will be light, casual and fun and the working focus will be on all things digital: the influence and impact of digital media on traditional media, electronic marketing tactics and the technology behind them, brand building, social marketing, podcasts, RSS feeds, Web analytics, marketing metrics and so on.
With more than 400 businesses in the region focused on branding, advertising, package design and other brand design disciplines, organizers expect the gathering to attract an influential group of regional and national thought leaders. The project was conceived by ADCLUB Cincinnati, which, says Jack Streitmarter, chair of the group's Digital Hub Initiative, "has acted as the catalyst for uniting traditional advertising-marketing-branding disciplines with hot new digital applications."
