Delta Air Lines employees share in $158 million in profit-sharing

It's been less than a year since Delta Air Lines emerged from bankruptcy. Today, its workers, including about 7,000 in Greater Cincinnati, are divvying up $158 million in profit-sharing checks, or about 5.5 percent of their pay. Delta used an 18-month bankruptcy to get its costs under control and when it emerged in March 2007, a new compensation program that allowed workers to share in Delta's progress was part of the package.
 
Monthly bonuses, stock awards and lump-sum payments are all part of Delta's plan for sharing the wealth. "They've earned their share of our company's success,'' says Delta CEO Richard Anderson.
