Close the Loop’s Green Machine set to recycle 20,000 tons of printer related parts and employ 100

Waste not inkjet cartridges, want not eLumber.

Close the Loop (CTL) unveiled its patented Green Machine, a cutting edge gizmo used to recycle inkjet cartridges, during a ribbon cutting celebration at its Hebron-based North American headquarters on November 19.

The Green Machine will play a key role in CTL’s forward thinking Zero Waste to Landfill program.

This program’s mission is to increasingly add inkjet cartridges to the list of other recyclables, starting with the corporate world.

Toshiba America Business Solutions Inc. and Lexmark are already partnering with CTL on this effort, to name a few.

Participation in the Zero Waste to Landfill program entails dropping all used printing related parts – inkjet cartridges, toner bottles, drum units, etc. – into collection bins, which are later picked up and transported to the recycling site.

The equipment needed for this process will be installed in CTL’s 128,000 sq. ft. facility in early 2009.

Once the gear is in place, CTL will be in a position to recycle over 20,000 tons of imaging consumables, as well as contribute to Northern Kentucky’s economy by employing over 100 associates.
