New MCM Clinical Research will conduct trials for pharmaceutical firms

When Bob Cicero retired as chief financial officer of a manufacturer, he looked around for something to do. Instead of golf, he started a business. His MCM Clinical Research LLC will open this month to conduct clinical research studies for the pharmaceutical industry with six full-time employees and several physicians under contract.

The start-up firm will open in one of St. Luke Hospital's medical offices in Florence. Cicero said he expects MCM to conduct 10 clinical research studies in its first year. The company’s primary field of research is treatments for mental health disorders. "We're the first of its kind in Northern Kentucky that deals with the central nervous system," he says.
