Research into traumatic brain injury in children and the genetics behind childhood obesity, both taking place at
Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, just got a hand up. The researchers, Dr. Lisa J. Martin and Dr. Nicolay Chertkoff Walz, will share a $100,000 grant from Fifth Third Bank and its Charlotte R. Schmidlapp Women Scholars Program, which recognizes younger female faculty members who show promise and leadership.
Dr. Martin is a genetic epidemiologist whose focus is on childhood obesity. Dr. Walz studies how brain injuries in children lead to social difficulties and is working to come up with ways to help.
