Most military veterans have been to boot camp, but not this kind. Xavier University's Entrepreneurial Center will offer the Xavier Entrepreneurship Boot Camp for Veterans on May 22. This one offers drills of a different sort. The day will start with a self-assessment test and continue with a discussion of the pros and cons of various ways to start a business. Participants will be trained in business plan development from marketing, finance, accounting and operations management perspectives. A roundtable with veterans who are successful small business owners and executives is included and legal and tax issues, government requirements, financing and specialprograms for veterans will be covered. The Boot Camp will end with a simulation competition.
It's free to veterans, who can sign up by phone at 513-745-2028. “As part of our social entrepreneurship mission, we will help veterans learn techniques and interact with veterans who are successful entrepreneurs,” says Daewoo Park, director of the center.
