General Data Company, Inc.'s (GD)
Personal ID™ Hospital Patient Identification Wristband has a new role.
Thanks to a February 2 appearance on a
CBS daytime talk show called
The Doctors, the innovative wristband, which holds a patient's medical information, is quickly becoming GD's celebrity rep.
This program is the brain child of the creative team behind the
Dr. Phil sensation. The Doctors has been beaming out from Los Angeles to TV sets across the nation since September 2008, and features four superstar docs: ER physician, Dr. Travis Stork; obstetrician and gynecologist, Dr. Lisa Masterson; plastic surgeon, Dr. Andrew Ordon; and pediatrician, Dr. James Sears.
With this diverse panel of specialists on hand, an equally diverse number of topics are discussed. And it doesn't end at discussion.
Sometimes medical procedures are done on-set, in the backstage examining room, or away from the set, on "house calls."
The Personal ID™ wristband will be used on the show to illustrate the importance of having patients' medical records accurate and available in as snappy a fashion as possible.
This product is GD's answer to the challenge of ensuring that the right treatments and medicines make it to the right patients, and is one among many bar coded devices GD supplies to the healthcare industry and beyond.
When it comes to healthcare these products all work toward a few central goals: eliminate errors, increase efficiency and ultimately keep patients safe. This, along with GD's bar code technologies used in other industries, will garner a mention on the program, as well.
This all makes for excellent national publicity.
“We are excited to be part of this program to shed light on the importance of patient ID systems within hospitals and other healthcare settings,” says Ralph Moher, GD's Vice President of Marketing. “People want to be more informed patients by learning more about healthcare technology, and this program can provide it in an accessible and entertaining way.”
