Mayor Mallory calls for new YP Kitchen Cabinet leadership

Cincinnati Mayor Mark Mallory knows YP.

This became clear in 2008 when Mayor Mallory's Young Professional Kitchen Cabinet (YPKC) were named a Best Practice Organization at the 2008 YP Summit, held in Boca Raton, Florida.

“The YPKC has been generating interest around the country for our innovative approach to
involving YP’s in the development of the future of Cincinnati,” Mayor Mallory says.

Building on last year's success, Mayor Mallory and his YPKC have their eyes set on hosting the 2009 summit, renamed Next Leaders Summit.

And this means creating a highly competitive bid, due in February.

Mayor Mallory will begin interviewing candidates for the 2009 YPKC early next week.  The new YPKC team will be announced later this month.

Consisting of 12 members, the 2009 YPKC Leadership Board – which includes President, Vice President, Secretary and nine committee chairs – will rally around a host of relevant issues.

The committees will include Arts and Entertainment, Health and Environment, Neighborhood Enhancement, Economic Development, Public Safety, Education, Parents and Young Families, Housing and Transportation.

Since its inception in 2006, Mayor Mallory's YPKC has explored ways to attract and keep a young demographic in Cincinnati by voicing support for the Streetcar initiative, improved recycling programs, honoring local educators and bridging the gap between YPs and their community councils.
