CCM to receive international gift of $550,000 from NorCom

The University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music’s (CCM) E-Media program is the recipient of a generous in-kind contribution from NorCom Information Technology, Inc. worth $550,000.

This generous contribution will make CCM students America’s first to train on NorCom’s cutting edge professional multimedia program, NCPower Pro, an IT hub targeted at broadcasting and media companies, which allows them to plan, digitize and produce all media types, from text and graphics, to audio and video.  The innovative format-independent research tool enables users to find and retrieve information and video footage simply and rapidly from archives of any kind, including news agencies, RSS feeds and the Internet.

Professionals across Europe and Asia already use the software to cut production times, smoothly translate between languages and transfer on-air content to the internet with ease.

CCM students will receive hands-on NCPower Pro training through a news writing class and the production of the Uptown News television magazine.

CCM has a long-standing relationship with NorCom, a Munich-based German IT and media technology company.  This relationship significantly benefits both parties including over-seas media internships in Munich for CCM students as well as prestige for the school and a forefront role in multimedia education.  For NorCom, it offers the chance to break into the world of American media.

CCM Public Information Officer, Katie Syroney reports “this collaboration is technically [NorCom’s] introduction into the North American market” and is expected to be useful among local and regional companies as well.

“If there are broadcasting companies or other types of media companies that might be interested in exploring the capabilities of this program, they can come to CCM and see how it works first-hand.  Our students can demonstrate it to them,” says Syroney.

This promising agreement will last for three years with the option of renewing.
