Celebrating its 16th year of service to the community with a day on the links, a local association of information technology (IT) professionals accomplished far more than the polishing of their strokes.
Through the efforts of
The Circuit- a regional non-profit comprised of IT professionals and organizations- a record $7,000 was raised this year in the association's annual Scholarship Golf Outing.
The proceeds from this popular event, now in its 10th year, are used to provide scholarships to local students pursuing IT-related degrees at area universities, a mission the non-profit believes to have far-reaching impact.
"We have helped a number of students on their path to an IT degree," says Robert Steele- chairman of The Circuit's Golf Committee. That support, says Steele, "will truly benefit our local community in the long run."
This year's event, held at Triple Crown Country Club in Union, Ky., attracted more than 100 golfers and major patrons. Among those area supporters is seven-year Diamond sponsor
ISOCNET, an e-solutions provider based in Cincinnati. Rick Cummins, President of ISOCNET, recognizes the annual golf outing as "a great way for our company to support our IT community and a great cause."
Central to that cause are the many area students taking their own approach shots towards joining the ranks of the Tri-State's Information Technology community. In the decade-long run of The Circuit's Scholarship Golf Outing, over 50 of these qualified students have been awarded scholarships through the annual fundraiser, and profits from this year's event will provide assistance to as many as seven more.
Application deadline for the 2011-2012 scholarships is December 31, 2010. For application forms and further information regarding The Circuit's IT Scholarship, visit
