Hayneedle.com, a niche product e-retailer, is relocating its distribution center from Omaha, Nebraska, to Monroe, Ohio this summer.
Hayneedle.com will expand its operations as part of the June 1 move. It's estimated the center will add 50 new jobs and 1.4 million in annual payroll in Monroe. Hayneedle.com said the distribution space was ideal because it's centrally located and provided quicker deliver to customers.
"This region is ideal for consumer-direct distribution. It provides for more rapid delivery to our customers than any other region," said Tom Clement, Director of Logistics and Distribution.
The privately held company is based in Omaha, Neb., and funded by Insight Venture Partners and Sequoia Capital. The company sells hundreds of consumer products, including indoor and outdoor furniture, home accessories, fitness and sports equipment and pet supplies.
The company received $97,837 in tax incentives over six years from the state for the relocation and investment. The tax credit requires the distribution center stay in place for nine years. Hayneedle.com has already signed a lease for a 501,357-square-foot building at
Monroe Logistics Center, which provides a 50 percent increase in capacity. The brand new building has been submitted for LEED certification for features like increased natural lighting, reduced energy and water use, motion sensor lighting and low-emitting adhesives, sealants and coatings.
