The Cincinnati Opera takes their final tour of Spain this week with the season’s final production, Carmen. Or take your own tour of the world through the over 75 national and international beers at The 2009 Cincy Beerfest @ Roebling Point. Fox-n-Hound Pub hosts their monthly eco-friendly mixer, Green Drinks, while artistic souls are invited to Tanze Performing Arts Center for Creativa.

Forget the old mantra “live, laugh, love,” it’s time to “live, learn, and be more eco-friendly!” Green Drinks, an international organization comprised of a mixture of participants from NGOs, academia, government and business, comes together for their monthly social gathering this Wednesday night at Fox-n-Hound Pub. Come join the sustainability-minded people of Cincinnati for an evening of drinks and discussion of anything and everything eco-friendly. This month Carl Adams from SunRockSolar.com will present on solar panels and offer information about grant money that is available for individuals who install solar panels in their homes. Can’t make it? No worries. Green Drinks meets the fourth Wednesday of every month at the pub from 6:00-7:30 p.m.
Adios España

It’s time to say “adios España” as the Cincinnati Opera closes out their Opera Goes to Spain season this weekend. Last, but certainly not least, is the performance of one of the most beloved operas of all time, George Bizet’s Carmen. This final tour of Seville features the mesmerizing Ruxandra Donose as the beautiful gypsy who is tragically carless with love. Don’t miss this ever-popular opera which has only three performances scheduled. As an added bonus, on the opening night of Carmen, the Opera Idol will be announced. Summer Sample

The masterminds behind Midwest Winter Beer Festival have had a stroke of genius. Why wait for the snow to be falling to enjoy frosty-cold beer samplings when summer is here now? The first-of what we hope becomes annual-Cincy Beerfest @ Roebling Point hits Covington for one-day only this Saturday. Like the winter festival, patrons can enjoy samplings of over 75 unique craft beers from around the country and the world. And great news, unlimited sampling for one price is also back; $35 by July 24th and $40 at the gate. With two tasting sessions being held, one from 2:00-6:00 p.m. and the second from 6:00-10:00 p.m., there is no excuse not to come. Both sessions offer unlimited sampling tickets, great musical entertainment-The Turkeys and The Modulators-and food booths because, well, you don’t want to down 75 beers on an empty stomach! If any of these words describe you-even if they don’t but you have an imagination which runs wild-then Tanze Performing Arts Center in Fairfield invites you to “dust off your work and let your truth fly.” This Saturday Tanze hosts Creativa: A Convergence of Creative Visions, a monthly event where anyone who wishes, has the opportunity to let their creative energies flow for 10 minutes on stage. Both doors open and sign-ups begin at 7:00 p.m. For those of you who wish to keep your creative genius under wraps, come enjoy a cup of coffee, and what is sure to be an inspiring show.
