Cash in a coupon, help bring clean water to the Third World. That’s the premise behind a Procter & Gamble initiative in March and April. For every P&G brandSAVER coupon redeemed during March and April, the company will donate one liter of clean and purified filtered drinking water to the developing world, where waterborne diseases remain a leading cause of illness and

death. The campaign is called “Give PUR water,” and is designed to promote P&G’s PUR brand of water purification products. The promotion, which has a goal of donating 50 million liters of clean water, also features the help of Kate Gosselin, star of TLC’s “Jon & Kate Plus 8.”

More than a billion people around the world don’t have access to clean, safe water. Since 2003, P&G has provided families in developing countries with access to clean drinking water through its not-for-profit Children’s Safe Drinking Water program. “Give PUR Water is a great extension of our program because consumers can get directly involved by simply redeeming coupons for products they use everyday,” says Greg Allgood, director of Children’s Safe Drinking Water program at P&G.
