Technology meets business at University of Cincinnati’s Showcase 2008

Taking cutting-edge research and turning it into viable comercial businesses is what University of Cincinnati’s Showcase 2008 is all about.  In one place (Tangeman University Center on the UC campus), at one time (Friday, March 7, 8:30 AM to 5 PM), Showcase will provide the region’s business community with a look at some of the best of UC’s research that has either been

commercialized or shows great potential. More than 100 exhibits and demonstrations of emerging technologies and research will be on hand – along with the researchers behind these efforts.
 
One sample:  UC engineering and medical researchers are using a $9 million, five-year grant to figure out ways to detect strokes and other brain attacks early. The group is also developing

a resource hub for similar research at UC and across the country. “The center is dedicated to developing technologies that will dramatically improve the care and health of the neurologic patient,” says Joseph Clark, professor of neurology in UC’s College of Medicine.
