Are Ohio’s small villages serving their residents? A new law brings more scrutiny
It requires every village in the state to be evaluated to see if it should be considered for dissolution by the voters.
Positioned at the confluence of the Great Miami River and the Ohio River in southwestern Hamilton County, Miami Township is home to about 16,000 residents. Within its boundaries are several smaller communities, including the villages of Addyston, North Bend, and Cleves, as well the community of Miami Heights. Miami Township West Park is a place to enjoy the beauty of the Great Miami River and first-class facilities, including the park’s three baseball fields, one of which serves as the home field for the Three Rivers Local School District’s Taylor High School baseball team.

Calls for medical care have increased 40-50% in some communities over 10 years while the population has remained stagnant.
Paying for fire protection and emergency medical services was on the ballot seven times in six different communities.
This money went towards immediate, long-term, and transformational needs.
Over the next decade, all 40 branches will receive renovations and improvements.
Improvements include more visible signs, habitat restoration, and a new bike fix-it center.
