For more than 20 years The University of Kentucky’s Center for Manufacturing’s team of engineers and scientists has been a source of focused industrial education, a provider of engineering assistance, and a developer of new technology through research.
The center’s engineers conduct more than 200 projects annually in manufacturing process improvement, design analysis, product development, design for manufacturability, and many other technical services. A specialized and versatile Prototyping and Machine Shop provides affordable services for both on and off campus clients.
For those in need of training, the center offers lean manufacturing, project management, and productions systems education especially tailored to industry clients. The center is building tomorrow’s workforce with graduates who earn the Masters in Systems Engineering Degree.
Associated engineering faculty pursue basic and targeted research in applied machine vision, welding, brazing, heat exchangers, mass customization, production systems, machining, metal forming, materials processing, painting, sustainability and controls/automation. Corporate, government, and UK funding supports these endeavors.
