In the wake of public transportation issues, New York City looks to Cincinnati — and more than 30 other cities with motorized scooters — to solve the problem.

According to the New York Daily News, “Transit delays and dysfunction disproportionately affect communities of color, especially in the outer boroughs. We’re more likely to travel further and wait longer for mass transit because our system was neither designed — nor sufficiently improved over time — to address our commuting needs.”

For all of those reasons, they are introducing a legislation to allow affordable electric scooters on the streets of New York, hoping to solve the problem of affordable and accessible public transportation.
