To find the most eco-conscious destinations across the country, Insider consulted a range of sources, including
Siemens' Green City Index for the US and Canada, which measures and rates the environmental performance of 27 cities in North America, and
WalletHub's 2017 list of the greenest cities in America, which compares 100 of the largest cities in the US across 22 "green" indicators like median air-quality and number of jobs accessible by public transit.
While there is no mention that Mayor John Cranley is among 406 U.S.
climate mayors committed to adopt, honor and uphold the Paris Climate Agreement goals in this rating, Insider reports that in 2012, Cincinnati, which made WalletHub's and NerdWallet's greenest city rankings, became the largest US city to offer its residents 100% renewable electricity. With a park system that comprises more than 5,000 acres, greenery is also abundant.
