On last week's premier of
The Voice, 23-year-old Cincinnati resident Tyshawn Colquitt impressed judges with a version of Sam Smith's "Like I Can." His performance prompted both Blake Sheldon and Jennifer Hudson to turn their chairs, and Colquitt opted for Team Jennifer.
Colquitt, a graduate of the School for Creative and Performing Arts, majored in vocal, jazz, and musical theater, and was recently featured on Bootsy Collins' album,
World Wide Funk.
As a father figure to his 11 younger siblings, Colquitt, credits music for getting him through some difficult times. He's even turned it into a business,
Pound4Sound, which is a singing cake delivery service.
