What started out as a program through Cincinnati Children’s hospital has grown to 600 “Project Search” job sites around the country and one, located at the Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center, now in its third year, just graduated six students from its transitional program, which prepares people with disabilities for employment.
According to Cornell University 2017 Disability Statistics, people with disabilities are employed less than half as often as their counterparts without disabilities, and, in the United States in 2017, the percentage of working-age people with disabilities working full-time for an entire year was 23.9 percent.
