Art and Race Matters: The Career of Robert Colescott debuted at Cincinnati’s Contemporary Arts Center last week with 85 pieces on display, including more than 60 paintings and about 20 works on paper, dating from 1949 to 2002.
Colescott is known for his unique perspectives on race and gender issues, which are apparent in his work that he created as a way of storytelling — debunking myths, poking fun at accepted norms, surfacing uncomfortable truths, and pushing back against blatant racism.
The traveling exhibit will be on display through January 12, 2020. To read more about the artist and the exhibit, click here.
