Entrepreneur provides jobs for people in Cincinnati who are unable to find them

When Richard Palmer started his company Nehemiah Manufacturing in Cincinnati, the first person to apply for a job was a former felon. Now, five years later, 90 percent of his 130 employees are returning citizens, the correct term for former felons.

This perfectly aligns with his mission, which is to provide jobs for people in Cincinnati who are unable to find them, giving residents “renewed hope for the future.”

The company works with P&G, and other businesses to license/acquire brands and launch new product concepts. They design, manufacture, market, and sell brands in a variety of product categories. Current brands include Dreft, Febreeze, Downy Ball, and Saline Soothers.

“The rewards over the past five years have been amazing,” says Palmer. “In this group, we find rare diamonds — some of the hardest working people we’ve ever seen. In proving themselves, these employees become fiercely loyal — insistent on high quality; positive teamers who help each other; hard chargers who self-sacrifice for the success of all.”
