The Red Bull Soapbox Race once again makes its way back to Cincinnati for the third time since it’s 2008 debut. Applications to submit your homemade Soapbox craft design are being accepted now. On Saturday, September 8, 60 teams will be challenged to craft their own non-motorized vehicles to be tested on a downhill course. The Eden Park course starts behind Krohn Conservatory on Cliff Drive and spirals through various twists, turns and obstacles to end on Martin Drive.
Red Bull Soapbox gives both experienced racers and amateurs alike a chance to tap into their inner youth to design and build the most outrageous vehicle with one goal in mind: To be the fastest one down the course with their creation in one piece. To be crowned king or queen of the hill you need more than just skill. Teams will be judged on criteria which is one-third speed, one-third creativity and one-third showmanship. In the end, it comes down to not only building the quickest soapbox, but also impressing the judges by how outrageous and charismatic they can be.
Irreverent 2015 team names like the Wallace Woods War Boys, Zombie Turtles and Skydivers without Parachutes hint that these racing teams are serious about their racing craft. The Red Bull Soapbox Race is an event for all those who love racing, have a sense of humor and are interested in showing off their imagination and creativity. Last time the Soapbox race hit Cincy, there were crafts resembling big pigs, double decker buses, macaroni and cheese, and space sharks. Turnout was in the thousands to witness wacky contraptions compete downhill against their biggest opponent - gravity.

There will be plenty of Red Bull (of course) and the Red Bull team will be on hand as a sounding board to answer your questions and discuss your design ideas. Applications call for teams of athletes, designers, engineers, entertainers, and everyone in-between to turn their racing dreams into reality.
