Survivor Style
January 21
You don’t have to be a contestant on Survivor in order to get the tribal experience. Leapin Lizard now hosts Tribal Night - a monthly evening of dance, drums, drink, food, vendors, music and more- featuring all the cultural thrills of going native without having to drink cow blood or eat grubs. Come out to Leapin Lizard this Thursday for an open belly dance and drum jam hosted by Al-Yanna from 7:00 -7:30 p.m. for beginners and from 7:30 - 8:00 p.m. for intermediate/advanced drummers and dancers-feel free to bring your own drum. Then move to beats of psychedelic tribal music by Mayan Ruins with accompanying belly-dancer Zahara and experience original acoustic tribal rock from Acarya. And what would a party at an art gallery be without crafts? Browse works by The Flying Cat and many more vendors. Tribal Night goes from 7:00-11:00 p.m. and there’s a $5.00 cover at the door. Can’t make it this Thursday? Don’t worry, Tribal Night is held the third Thursday of every month.

Macho Macho Man
January 22
"...I've got to be, a macho man.” What defines being a man today? Is it bringing home the bacon, calloused hands from a hard day’s work, or maybe it’s being glued to the T.V. on Sunday drinking a beer and watching the game? Well with the emergence of the metrosexual and male mani/pedis, the definition of what it means to be a man is definitely up for discussion. Museum Gallery-Gallery Museum- an artistic space dedicated to exploring the layers of fake and real in which we exist daily-brings you the exploration of the modern “man” with their latest exhibit, HUXY: MODES OF MASCULINITY. This forward-thinking exhibit studies the roles, stigmas and stereotypes of what it means to be a man in the 21st century. MG-GM hopes their latest exhibit will initiate constructive discourse on the controversial subject of maleness. Come be a part of the conversation at the Opening Reception this Friday from 6:00p.m.-11:00 p.m.
