Did you know women-owned businesses account for 28 percent of all privately-owned businesses, employ 9.2 million people and contribute $2.38 trillion in revenue to the U.S. economy? Bad Girl Ventures (BGV) aims to support the entreprenuial dreams of women in Cincinnati and are celebrating the launch of a new product line by local designer Nicole Kennedy and the close of BGV's first application process. To be eligible to receive BGV funds and participate in the formal BVG curriculum, applicants must be a woman-owned business, with 51% ownership and control; fall within the sectors of retail, restaurant or professional services and be a relatively new venture, less than five years old. Cincinnati Opera presents La Bohème

Celebrating its 90th season this summer, Cincinnati Opera hosts the U.S. premiere of Puccini's modern production, La Boheme.  Set in Paris in the 1930s, the Italian libretto is based on Merger's novel "Scenes de la vie de bohème."  Highlighting the counter-culture of young artists and other rebels in the Latin Quarter of 19th century Paris, the story focuses on the relationship between characters Roldolfo and Mimi, and has become one of the most celebrated operas performed in the States.
